Can we all agree that online grammar police are annoying?

Case and point: I was just on the Huffington Post, where people were debating the very real issue of contraception rights, and many people’s only argument in the comments section was for proper grammar.

I mean honestly, unless people are typing ~*L1Ke*^ D1sS*~ or just completely **@&#*$ up words it’s unnecessary. Every time I go onto a blog, or community there is always one person who feels the need to correct everyone’s grammar/spelling. Or even more annoying repost the ever popular memes depicting the correct usage of your, you’re and there, their, and they’re etc…

NEWSFLASH:

Online communities are not prep for a thesis paper or a written exam. As for the memes we’ve all seen them (probably thousands of times by now) these grammar offenders either 1.  know and don’t care, 2. mistyped  or 3. just lazy.

Either way you’re wasting your breath and taking the focus away from the topic which is what you allegedly came to discuss.

Moreover, I hate to break it to you but condescending grammar usage posts from the “grammar police” don’t mean shit. 9 out of 10 times people who are posting about correct grammar usage fuck that shit up just as often, or have no other point to make on the subject.

And I would rather read/see points on the subject.

Soultion:

Let’s not try to pretend that all of the sudden we are all English majors. And even if you are an English major, why don’t you give other non English majors the benefit of not being an English major and let it go!
